Hello,
I was one of the spectators of the 2025 Rose Parade’s 605 All Star marching band practice parade from Bellflower to Lakewood on Sunday December 1, and even though I don’t know the names of the wonderful men who from Roadway who were working at the intersection of Woodruff and Artesia,
I just want to send a note of appreciation.
Initially there were two Roadway employees at the Woodruff and Artesia intersection, and then later a third Roadway personnel came in a truck to help back up that intersection.
Due to the parade, the streets were closed off for approximately 4 miles, and Roadway assisted with directing traffic and maintaining the blockage. Sadly, many drivers did not respect the rules and kept on forcing their way to Woodruff. I witnessed the two (then three later) Roadway personnel practically risking their lives doing their jobs at the intersection. The disrespectful drivers were mean, aggressive, and some even decided to just step on the pedal and ran through the barricades and orange cones. It was very scary!
But I really admire the two and then later three Roadway personnel who persevered and continued to do their jobs protecting the public’s safety. The angry drivers took it all out on them, but they did not give up and persisted to doing their jobs by going above and beyond. And it was super hard holding the line because Public Safety on the other end kept making exceptions and letting vehicles through. I know that it may be impossible to identify the specific gentlemen who were working at the Woodruff and Artesia intersection on Sunday Dec 1, but I hope Roadway is able to relate the words of appreciation to the team for a job well done on such a chaotic day. These outstanding personnel truly set a great example of tremendous work ethics!
Thank you!
Maggie
